Dirty Standards Progress

| | Comments (0)
Greetings All!

I just wanted to write a quick blog update to let you know how we in the Dirty Standards group are doing.  We each are writing our own blog entry detailing our individual efforts so see the aggregator for more information.

We began with the premise of trying to learn the dirty secrets and processes of wireless standard setting.  Thus, we proceeded to write a set of questions (each of us individually) and then hone them into our final product.  Max also created a set of guiding questions so that people could give us a story or dirty secret.  We collectively wrote a contact email for wireless standard committee members.

I helped in crafting the contact email and also have been responsible for generating the IRB form so that we may carry out our study.  I generated content for the debriefing form, pdf's of our survey and story measures, online consent form and fields within the form.  I will also handle any necessary revisions to said forms.

Currently, we have sent our forms to Christian and will await IRB approval to send out our contact emails.  Once we gain approval, we will take our survey site (that Shawn constructed) public and await responses!  We then plan on taking the survey responses and generating a summary document to post to our broadCAST website along with any donated stories.  We expect to complete our data collection before the end of term and have a summary and story bank online by the end of term.

Best,

Chris

Group Contacts for SPCm 496

Hello All!

I have completed the contact list with pictures and have posted it in three forms to our course Moodle website.  You should login to Moodle to retrieve it.

***Please inform me if for any reason any information is incorrect or you wish to provide additional information***

The first file is a portable document file with each picture, name, email and phone contact.  Use this if you do not have Apple QuickTime installed on your computer.

The second file is a word document of the same information.  Use this if you have Apple QuickTime installed on your computer.  If you do not have it installed, you will not be able to view the pictures.

The third file is a series of .vcf files.  .vcf files are meant to be portable versions of electronic contacts.  Use this in addition to one of the above options.  It is meant to a supplement that you can import to your phone, google contacts, or computer address book so you have this information with you at all times.  It has photos, names, emails and phone numbers.

If you have any questions, please contact me.

Self Inventory

| | Comments (1)
Greetings!  My name is Chris and I am a grad student in the SPCM department.  Here is a list for my self inventory.

CONNECTIONS:
I don't really have many personal connections that would get us any free stuff.  Sadly, I also do not have any connections that would yield any valuable information about wireless technology and policy.

SKILLS:
I am proficient in MS Office, Adobe products (premier, photoshop), Sound editing/mastering programs, basic web design, anything mac, SPSS, web researching and networking.  I have a host of hands on skills for building things (e.g. I am especially good at putting things together, working with wood etc).  I am not afraid to call people for interviews or information gathering.  I am pretty strong at organization and task management.

PRACTICAL MATTERS:
I have a car and can drive people to places if the need arises.  I have a sams membership (if for some reason we need to use it).  I also have a fair amount of tools (Joiners, Jointers, Planers, Table Saw, Drills, Jig Saws, Sanders, Miter Saw, Routers, Reciprocating Saw, Shop Vac, Finish and framing nailers, Air compressor, Clamps, metric and SAE wrenches/sockets, and others. . .sorry for the list).  I have an old Truck if we need to move large things, a cute dog (if we need a mascot), a laptop with mac/windows, DVR, and a junk yard in my basement of old electronics.

Hope this helps

chris

This is a test!

If this were a real entry, really important things would appear here.
