Ok here I go...
- RESEARCH: As a graduate student I have come to both hate and love the library database. I consider myself quite adept at navigating it. I also have several friends who work/study at GSLIS so if we need access to really weird information they could come in handy.
- WRITING: I have experience writing both academic and fictional work.
- SPEAKING: I have been involved in public speaking in some way for the past 12 years. In high school I used to compete on the speech team under the event entitled "radio." In this event I put together a radio broadcast. I have also been recorded for shows on 90.1 WEFT in Champaign. In general, I do not fear any kind of speaking or presenting.
- ORGANIZING: I am a fan of organizing groups of people, logistics, schedules, etc. For some reason I feel better when life can fit into a 3-ring binder with color coded dividers.
- CONNECTIONS:
- My father is a senior marketing dude for wireless medical technologies. He is really excited to hear about the outcome of this class, actually.
- A dear friend of mine has his own website hosting company, Turtol (www.turtol.com). TurtolCMS is an open source, content management system targeting website owners with minimal technical expertise.
- One of my best friends owns a theatre company. Granted it is in London, but you never know.
- I also have a few very close friends in large PR firms both in America and abroad.
- My brother is a photographer and willing to travel.
- COMMERCIALISM: I own the following:
- A laptop
- A car that fits 3 others comfortably, 4 others if need be
- A scanner
- A digital camera
- An external hard drive
- 2 ridiculously cute baby hamsters
- COMPUTER STUFF: I am familiar with all MS applications, SPSS. I have access to Travis Dixon's media lab with an editing dock. I can reteach myself the content editing program on there (the name of the program currently escapes me).
