Imagine you are an inventor who has created a new process for the digitization of eating.
Part I: I chose to digitize the enjoyment involved with eating different foods. Since this is a sensory function it is definitely analog
Part II: In order to digitize the feeling and senses involved with eating different foods first we need different categories of the food we will be using.
Gumby’s Cheese Pizza - P
Granny Smith Apple Slices - A
Raw (Uncooked) Broccoli - B
Hamburger with Ketchup and Pickle - H
Chicken Noodle Soup - S
Cookie Dough Ice Cream - IC
There also needs to be a way to record the enjoyment of eating each of the foods. This will be done on a percentage basis 0-100% on a bar graph. The higher the percentage the more enjoyment was received from eating the particular food. This would be considered quantization since we are assigning a numerical value to something that would normally not involved numbers at all.
This can be seen in the following bar graph:

Part III: A consequence that could occur from using this process would be that it would be easier to rate the enjoyment of certain foods by consumers so that producers could improve the food that they sell to consumers. This would improve the food industry considerably because people would have a say in what they felt was good or bad. From there the food producers could alter or keep their recipes in order to maximize profits. Since the enjoyment of food is not normally shown in a quantified format, it is difficult to give a clear cut explanation of how much one person enjoyed something over the next person. When this enjoyment is goes through quantization it is easier to take a sampling of a certain amount of people for each food and base whether the food needs to be changed off of those results.
