The textbooks
There are three required textbooks. All three are available the University Bookstore, 809 S. Wright St., Champaign 333-2050 or at TIS Campus Bookstore, 707 S. 6th St., Champaign 217-337-4900:

- Orwell, George. 1984. New York: Centennial Edition (Harcourt Brace / Plume).
- Tufte, Edward R. (2006). The Cognitive Style of PowerPoint. (2nd edition). Cheshire, CT: Graphics Press. 32 pages. In addition to the two campus bookstores listed above, this can also be obtained online on the directly from the publisher. Please note that the two editions are quite different -- please do not use a different edition of this book!

Electronic readings are stored on the Moodle courseware system for our class. Please access the readings by following the links from this web site.
Note: THIS web site is the main course web site. We are only using Moodle to store and access the electronic readings. We will not use the course Moodle for any other reason, so always come to this web site first.
There is no enrollment key for our Moodle class. There is no course-specific password (other than your active directory password).
Password Help
Readings on Moodle (and grades on Compass) are password protected using your UIUC Active Directory (AD) Password. If you don't have an Active Directory password, you can get one at the link above. If you are having password problems, please contact the CITES Help Desk.
The instructors do not control the Active Directory password system. The Active Directory password is the same password we use to log in to computers in our discussion/lab sections, and it the same as your NetFiles password. For more information, here are some campus links that might help with your password problems:
You do not need a course enrollment key to access Moodle, just use your UIUC Active Directory Password as described above.
