Rejected Theology Thesis Argued that Theologian Troeltsch was Anti-Semite

Columbia University:  Constance Benson submitted a Ph.D. thesis in Theology reevaluating the status of Ernst Troeltsch, a German theologian who died in 1923.  It was rejected by Columbia University as "unsatisfactory," but she alleged that her work was rejected because she discovered that a revered theologian was an anti-Semite and the committee didn't want to face that fact. She later sued the university and lost.
